Blogging & Reflective Skills

Entangling blogging with reflective skills

I will start by confessing that I am new to blogging. I have just started blogging a few months ago. While thinking about what should I blog about, an idea to share my experience with learning crochet as a new skill set came to me.

I started sharing my crochet-leaning journey. For some context, I have been crocheting since last year. It’s an off-and-on hobby for me. Sometimes I do it continuously while other times I forget for weeks even months. This was a matter of great confusion for me as I really enjoyed the hobby but still couldn’t do it continuously. This is the part of the story where blogging comes in.

As I mentioned before, I decided to write a blog about this hobby of mine. I started to share how I started it and how it is going. It was specifically this blog where I talked about the struggles I have faced while crocheting that made me self-reflect a lot. The main mystery was why I was lagging so much despite my liking towards the hobby.

I then kept on thinking and reflecting on what could be the reason. After much contemplation, I came to the conclusion that I was trying to learn too much at once while also comparing my crocheting skills to others. I ended up writing another blog regarding these reflections of mine. It was to my surprise that I got some comments from fellows who were also doing crochet in my circle as a hobby that they were also facing similar worries. They shared their stories and whether they had overcome their problems or not. And if they had overcome their lacking, how did they do that? It is also worth noting that before this blog, I was alone in my worry but now I had my friends to share my experiences with me which then made me relaxed and worry-free.

This way not only I was able to reflect upon struggles with my hobby and find solutions as well as reassurance, but my readers were also able to reflect upon their issues regarding the matter.

This experience gave me insights into how blogging can be useful in developing reflective skills. It has helped me to analyze what was wrong, how it affected me and what was the solution.
